StarTimes is undergoing a major transformation that extends far beyond television broadcasting, with the launch of its H50 Solar Solution marking a bold step into the energy sector.
Traditionally known for providing digital television services across Africa, the company is now positioning itself as a broader lifestyle solutions provider, integrating entertainment, connectivity, and household energy into a single ecosystem.
The H50 Solar Solution represents this shift. It is a hybrid energy system designed to provide stable and efficient electricity backup for households facing frequent outages and rising energy costs.
The system combines a 5kVA inverter, a 5.12kWh lithium battery, and 2.3kWp solar panels. It is designed to ensure uninterrupted power supply for essential household functions while maintaining access to digital entertainment services.
StarTimes says the product reflects its long-term strategy of building value beyond content delivery and into infrastructure-based services that directly impact daily living.
Speaking on the launch, Myke Mwai, Head of PR and Content Syndication, emphasized the company’s commitment to customer experience.
“At StarTimes, our goal has always been to ensure customers enjoy a seamless digital lifestyle,” he said. “The H50 Solar Solution ensures that households remain powered, connected, and entertained regardless of grid interruptions.”
The system can support multiple appliances including televisions, refrigerators, microwaves, Wi-Fi routers, kettles, and other essential devices, while also powering up to 40 LED lights.
Market observers view this move as part of a wider corporate trend where telecom and media companies expand into utility services to strengthen customer retention and create new revenue streams.
The H50 Solar Solution is available through StarTimes Business Halls, with installation and technical support offered to customers.
