Editorial Policy

Overview
This editorial policy outlines how Mzuqa produces, reviews, and publishes content. It reflects our commitment to accuracy, transparency, and responsible journalism. All content published on Mzuqa follows these standards and processes.
Sourcing Standards
We rely on verified, credible sources for all reporting:
- Public records and data: We use official documents, public records, and verified data from government agencies, academic institutions, and recognized research organizations.
- Named sources: We prefer on-the-record sources and clearly identify them in our reporting. When we use anonymous sources, we do so only when necessary and with clear justification.
- Multiple verification: We verify information through multiple independent sources whenever possible before publication.
- Attribution: We clearly attribute information to its source, distinguishing between facts, analysis, and opinion.
We do not publish unverified information, rumors, or speculation presented as fact. When information cannot be verified, we state that clearly.
Content Categories
We clearly distinguish between different types of content:
News
News articles report factual information about current events. They are based on verified sources, multiple points of view when applicable, and are written in an objective, neutral tone. News articles do not include the author's personal opinions or interpretations beyond factual analysis.
Opinion
Opinion pieces express the author's viewpoint, analysis, or interpretation. All opinion content is clearly labeled as such. Opinion pieces are distinct from news reporting and are presented as the author's perspective, not as objective fact.
Analysis
Analysis articles provide context, background, and interpretation of news events. They combine factual reporting with expert insight and are clearly labeled as analysis. Analysis pieces may include the author's informed perspective but are grounded in verified facts.
Editorial Review Process
All content undergoes editorial review before publication:
- Fact-checking for accuracy and verification of sources
- Review for clarity, grammar, and adherence to style guidelines
- Assessment of newsworthiness and public interest
- Verification that content is properly categorized (news, opinion, or analysis)
- Review for potential conflicts of interest or bias
Editors have final authority over what is published and may request revisions, additional reporting, or decline to publish content that does not meet our standards.
Conflicts of Interest
We take conflicts of interest seriously. All staff members and contributors are required to disclose any potential conflicts, including financial interests, personal relationships, or other connections that could affect their reporting.
When a conflict of interest exists, we either assign the story to another reporter, disclose the conflict to readers, or decline to cover the story. We do not allow personal, financial, or political interests to influence our editorial decisions.
Staff members may not accept gifts, favors, or compensation from sources, subjects, or organizations they cover. Any exceptions must be approved by editorial leadership and disclosed to readers when relevant.
AI-Assisted Tools
We may use AI-assisted tools in our editorial process for tasks such as:
- Editing and proofreading assistance
- Summarization of lengthy documents or reports
- Translation of source materials
- Data analysis and visualization
We do not use AI to generate or fabricate content. All articles are written by human journalists. AI tools are used only as assistants in the editorial process, and all AI-assisted work is reviewed and verified by human editors before publication.
We maintain human oversight and responsibility for all published content. AI-generated text is never published as original reporting, and we do not use AI to create quotes, sources, or factual claims.
Corrections
We are committed to correcting errors promptly and transparently. When we discover a factual error, we update the article with a correction note and, when significant, add a note at the top of the article. All corrections include the date and time of the correction.
For more details, please see our Corrections Policy.
Editorial Independence
Our editorial decisions are made independently by our editorial team. Advertisers, sponsors, and business partners do not influence our news coverage. Sponsored content is clearly labeled and kept separate from editorial content.
We do not accept payment or other compensation in exchange for news coverage. News coverage is determined solely by newsworthiness, public interest, and journalistic standards.
