Safaricom Hook, in partnership with Sprite, has empowered students at Africa Nazarene University in Ongata Rongai with digital economy skills aimed at enabling them to build sustainable income through content creation and online platforms.
The session featured industry leaders who shared practical insights on how to use social media platforms to build sustainable income through content creation.
The training, held under the ‘Hook’d on Fresh’ youth masterclass series, focused on digital literacy, content monetisation, and financial empowerment through saving and investing for long-term wealth creation.
The session, delivered by Safaricom through its youth platform Safaricom Hook in partnership with Sprite, a brand under The Coca-Cola Company, also equipped students with practical knowledge on how to manage and grow their earnings.
Industry players including lifestyle content creator Carrie Wahu and dance creator Tileh Pacbro led the training, sharing insights on how to leverage content creation to generate income.
Also present was Alexander Matheka, Wealth Management at Safaricom, who introduced the Ziidi Money Market Fund platform and encouraged students to adopt a savings and investment culture.
“Content creation has become such a big deal for young people, and it is only fair that we support them and become the enablers through our platforms, helping them convert what they do into a source of livelihood,” said Fawzia Ali Kimanthi, Chief Consumer Business Officer, Safaricom.
The Hook’d on Fresh campaign is a digital influencer-hosted creator programme designed to equip Kenyan youth with the skills, tools, and inspiration they need to thrive in the digital content economy.
The Africa Nazarene University engagement follows a recent stop in Eldoret, where over 300 students attended the masterclass and gained access to digital tools and industry insights.
At the heart of the initiative is a shared commitment by Safaricom and Sprite to support Kenya’s creative generation by combining connectivity and culture, two essential ingredients for success in today’s digital landscape.
The Hook’d on Fresh Masterclass Series goes beyond content creation by combining skills development with financial literacy, positioning young people to better navigate opportunities in the digital economy.
