CFAO Mobility Kenya has unveiled a KES 48.5 million sponsorship and development package for the 2026 World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally.

This is aimed at reinforcing its commitment to nurturing young talent and advancing motorsport innovation in Kenya. Over the past six years, the company has invested more than KES 153 million in Kenyan rallying.

“Our commitment goes beyond sponsorship. We are creating opportunities for young drivers and engineers, ensuring Kenya’s rally talent thrives on the global stage,” said Arvinder Reel, Managing Director of CFAO Mobility Kenya.

As part of its youth-focused initiatives, CFAO Mobility donated two FIA-approved Toyota Starlet rally cars to the Safari Rally Training School Project.

Built in collaboration with Kenyan engineers to FIA Rally 5 standards at KES 34.5 million, the cars were handed over to the President of Kenya at State House, symbolizing the country’s dedication to developing local motorsport.

CFAO also introduced a prototype Cross Car for drivers aged 12–17, the first of its kind in Kenya, built to FIA standards at KES 3.7 million.

This vehicle will provide a structured path for grassroots drivers, enabling them to progress from local training to professional rallying.

“We have partnered with South Africa’s Botterill Motor Sport to develop a rally training curriculum.

Local drivers and navigators will benefit from training camps, and the curriculum will be handed over to the Safari Rally Secretariat to ensure continuity beyond the rally,” Reel explained.

Global Stars Inspire Local Talent

The sponsorship event featured a meet-and-greet with Toyota Gazoo Racing Team (TGR) drivers.

Rally stars in attendance included Elfyn Evans, 2025 Safari Rally winner and current WRC leader; Samo Pajari; a 24-year-old rising Kenyan talent; and Juha Kankkunen, legendary 1985 Safari Rally winner and Deputy Team Principal.

Principal Secretary for Sports, Mr. Elijah Mwangi, commended CFAO Mobility Kenya for strengthening grassroots motorsport:

“Their investment in rally cars, training programs, and Kenya’s first affordable FIA Cross Car is vital for developing local talent and building technical skills. Collaboration with TVETA will expand local production and training capacity.”

The Toyota Hilux continues as the “double zero” and “triple zero” opening cars, highlighting its quality, durability, and reliability while demonstrating CFAO Mobility’s commitment to both motorsport and mobility solutions across Kenya.

Through sponsorship, youth-focused initiatives, and technical innovation, CFAO Mobility Kenya is not only supporting the Safari Rally but also shaping Kenya’s motorsport future, empowering the next generation of rally champions.
